What goes into designing a room for a conference like CoachCon?

There are a lot of small decisions behind a conference setup like this. In the video above, Michael walks through the space and explains how the room layout, LED and content all worked together for CoachCon.

For this event with Strategic Coach, the room itself presented an interesting challenge. The flow of the larger conference meant the general session needed to turn 90 degrees, changing where guests entered and exited the space.

That became the starting point for the entire design.

Building a Room Within a Room

Rather than letting the existing room dictate the setup, the team created a new center point within the space. This allowed us to take advantage of the venue’s existing rigging while creating a layout that worked better with the flow of the conference.

Using LED in a Different Way

One of the standout pieces was the blow-through LED. Content could appear to float on screen, then disappear to reveal the backstage entrance behind it.

As presenters entered, lighting behind the screen created a reveal before they walked onto the stage. It was a simple detail that added energy to each entrance.

Designing Around the Community

Strategic Coach has a tight-knit community, and the layout was intentionally designed around that.

Screens and seating were angled inward, naturally pulling attention toward the content and toward the center of the room. Even with a wide stage, presenters could move between sections and connect more directly with different parts of the audience.

Content That Completed the Look

The screens gave the content team plenty of flexibility, from traditional 16:9 presentation slides and portrait IMAG to scenic content across the LED.

Small details like moving trees, the skyline and a floating logo helped give the stage dimension without distracting from what was happening on it.
